Blindness is a rare but very real danger for men who use erectile dysfunction drugs. Recent reports from officials of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allege that Viagra, Cialis and Levitra – the three main medications used by men to treat issues of erectile dysfunction – may be linked to a rare but very serious disorder known as non-arteritic anterior ischemic neuropathy, or NAION. NAION is a disorder that stems from a lack of blood supply to the ocular nerve, and the condition can and often does cause the victim to lose vision in one or both eyes.
The possibility of a link between ED drugs and blindness was raised publicly early in 2005, when an ophthalmology journal reported that seven patients were stricken with NAION vision loss within 36 hours of a ED drug dose. In addition, there are 43 reported cases of NAION among ED drug users in the U.S. in 2005. What makes this alarming situation all the more frustrating for ED patients is the fact that none of the three major medications used to combat ED (Viagra, Cialis and Levitra) carried on-label warnings outlining the potential effects of NAION. As a result, a score of men are now forced to toil in a world of confusion and darkness, through no fault of their own.
Being denied the gift of sight can forever alter a man's physical, emotional and psychological make-up. Anyone who has suffered vision problems after taking ED medications should immediately consult with a skilled and experienced attorney. Those who failed to inform you of the severity of your situation must be held accountable for their actions, and pay for the transgressions that have led you into a world of darkness and confusion.
