Janssen Pharmaceutica sent a letter to American health care professionals on April 16th, 2003 warning people of the potential fatal strokes caused by Risperdal. It detailed a study that indicated elevated risk of cerebrovascular incidents (stroke) than the same test with a placebo. Unfortunately, 37 people had already suffered a stroke or stroke-related event, and 16 of them died.
Curiously, Janssen sent out a similar letter to Canadian doctors a year before in 2002 warning of the same dangers. The reasons they company hesitated to warn consumers in the United States are unclear, but Risperdal had become the number one antipsychotic drug in the American market.
People across the country are now beginning to mobilize against drug companies who risk lives with unsafe drugs. If you suffered any adverse consequences of Risperdal treatment you may be entitled to claim a settlement. The law limits the amount time you have to take action, so contact us today.
