The Fair Labor Standards Act allows
overtime lawsuits to be filed for a variety
of reasons. Some of these catalysts may
include employers incorrectly classifying
employees as “exempt” under
FLSA overtime requirements, employers
neglecting to compensate for “off
the clock” hours worked by an employee,
and employers not including “wage
augments” while calculating an
overtime payment.
The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
created specific compensation guidelines
and definitions for FLSA overtime, overtime,
work time, off the clock work, travel
time, training time, sleep time, meal
periods, work weeks, and alternative
work periods for different professions.
Although an effort was made to clarify
all aspects of the legislation, violations
still take place. Whether these activities
are accidental or intentional, the employee
remains the victim.
If you have not been compensating fairly
for your overtime work, do not hesitate
to discuss your case with an attorney.
A compassionate lawyer can help you fight
for justice and obtain the reparations
you deserve. You owe it to yourself and
your family to remain vigilant by calling
attention to those whose illegal actions
have disrespected employment laws.
