On September 7, 2005 Ford Motor Company
announced that it is conducting a voluntary
safety recall on 1994-2002 Ford F150,
Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and
Ford Bronco vehicles. This recall is
in response to the finding that the speed
control deactivation switch could overheat
and lead to a fire under the hood of
the car.
It is estimated that nearly 4 million
vehicles on the road in the United States
are affected by this dramatic recall.
Specifically, the vehicles that are most
likely to be affected are the 1994-2002
F150s, 1997-2002 Expeditions, 1998-2002
Lincoln Navigators, and 1994-1996 Ford
Broncos equipped with factory-installed
speed control.
