A dietary supplement is defined as a product that is intended to supplement someone's diet that includes a vitamin, mineral, amino acid, herb, or other botanical substance or some mixture of these. The loose definition comes from the Federal Dietary Supplemental Health and Education Act and unfortunately it leaves many holes for manufacturers to exploit.

This means that almost any company or manufacturer can make extravagant claims for their product, and often this leads to boasting of such things ranging from everything from a cancer cure to a way to magically lose weight. Most of these claims have only received nominal testing and few have been checked for sever allergies and drug interactions like prescription medications are required to do. The exponential growth of online marketing has made the dietary supplements market explode, and several potentially dangerous ones have entered the marketplace.

Some of these dangerous supplements include Anabolic Xtreme Superdol and Methyl-1-P, unapproved drugs containing steroids that are promoted for building muscle and increasing strength. The FDA has already warned manufacturers that these products may cause serious long-term adverse health consequences in men, women, and children, such as liver toxicity, testicular atrophy and male infertility. Other side effects include masculinization of women, breast enlargement in males, and short stature in children, as well as an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

If your health has been unjustly jeopardized by dietary supplements, you may have legal options for fighting back. You could be entitled to financial compensation for your unexpected and unnecessary struggles, but you have to act quickly before state statutes of limitations expire, leaving you in pain and empty-handed. Make sure to contact an experienced defective drug attorney today.

The law firm of Steigerwalt & Associates is here to help victims of defective drugs throughout the country.
