The drug known as Cialis is made by Eli Lily & Co. and used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and impotence in men. Cialis was approved by the FDA in 2003 and has since become one of the most widely prescribed medications in the country, with over five million men using it each year. Unfortunately, evidence began to emerge showing that Cialis use can lead to serious side effects that can be irreversible.

One of the most severe of these consequences in known as Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy, or NAION. This devastating condition causes vision loss by the restriction of blood supply to the eye that causes serious damage to the optic nerve. The FDA approved of a label change for the medication in July of 2005 in order to adequately warn consumers about this danger.

There have already been at least four reported cases of patients losing their vision due to Cialis use, and there are expected to be many more reports of NAION in the future. Because the drug maker did not have an urgent warning to users, many men are still unclear about the potential risks and as more and more Cialis prescriptions are written this year, countless victims are at risk for developing serious vision problems and other issues.

If you or someone you know is struggling with complications from Cialis use, make sure to contact a defective medication attorney as soon as possible. You could be entitled to financial help due to the physical and emotional pain that you've suffered, but you have to act quickly before restrictive statutes of limitations expire. Don't wait - contact a Cialis lawyer today.

The law firm of Steigerwalt & Associates is here to help victims of defective drugs throughout the country.
