Chromated Copper Arsenate, or CCA, is a chemical preservative that is used to protect wood from being destroyed by microbes, termites, or other wood-boring insects. CCA is largely used to pressure treat lumber intended for outdoor uses such as home, school, community playgrounds, decks, and landscape timbers. CCA-treated lumber is also used in building structures.
CCA contains arsenic, which presents a danger to the individuals exposed to it. Arsenic is a metallic element that is highly poisonous to humans. Arsenic occurs naturally and is historically known to be toxic to humans and other animals. Small amounts are known to cause cancer and higher concentrations can cause death.
If you or a loved one has been exposed to CCA, or have recently been diagnosed with an arsenic-related illness or condition, you may be entitled to compensation in keeping with the pain and suffering you have endured.
