Accutane is a brand of acne medication that contains the drug isotretinoin. Accutane is used only to treat severe acne, usually after topical and antibiotic treatments have been attempted. Isotretinoin is a retinoid derived from Vitamin A and is found naturally in the body.

Today there are several pharmaceutical companies manufacturing generic versions of Accutane. Although Accutane has a good success rate at treating acne, there are a variety of undesireable side effects that can be caused by the drug. Additionally, it has been suggested that Accutane has contributed to birth defects and suicidal tendencies.

If you or someone you care about has suffered unexpected side effects after taking Accutane, you deserve to be aware of your legal rights. Nobody should have to pay a lifelong price for taking an acne medication as a young adult. An experienced attorney can help you understand the law and determine a course of action to take against those responsible for your suffering.

The Law Firm of Steigerwalt & Associates is here to help the victims of Accutane throughout the country.
